A walk-by art exhibition along neighbourhood’s shop windows

Between November 15th 2020 and January 9th 2021 my paintings were shown in collaborating stores along Roncesvalles avenue.
When Covid-19 shut everything down, I painted a lot. I painted a hundred flower paintings on paint chips and wrote ‘For You’ on the backs. I hung them around the neighbourhood as an anonymous greeting card to strangers- as a gift, hopefully a moment of discovery or surprise. In a time where people were feeling isolated and worried, I thought it would bring a little positivity to the community I have lived in and loved for decades.
In the same spirit of community, I wanted to create an art experience that reflects the sentiment behind the painting series I’ve nurtured for the past decade. The window paintings are meant to capture a moment that we see, but don’t realize we are seeing. The reflections capture the interior and exterior of a place, mixing natural and artificial aspects of the moment in abstract complexities that I hope opens a space of contemplation and wonder. By installing the works in the windows, the idea travels full-circle.
